Championship Saturday big stage for Idaho Select players
Five players will contend for titles
March 7, 2009 (MERIDIAN, ID) - Five players from the Idaho Select program will compete today for State Tournament titles at the Idaho Center in Nampa, Idaho.
In the 3A game, Shelley and Tanner Higham will try beat Sugar-Salem in the 3:50 PM game. Higham has averaged 20 points, 7 assists and 5 steals in the previous two state tournament games.
The 4A championship game will feature three Idaho Select players, all playing for Skyview. Terrel Rowe, Matt Clark and Marc Taylor will take on Pocatello in the 6:00 PM game. Clark and Taylor have really made their presence felt inside for the Hawks, combining to average 19 points and 14.5 rebounds per game.
In the state tournament's final game, the 5A classification matches up Madison against Lewiston. Lewiston's roster features Ryan Young, who played for Idaho Select this past summer. Young, whom the Bengals predominately rely on to be their defensive stopper, is averaging 15 points per game in the tournament. More importantly, he held Vallivue's Zach Kelsh to 0 points and Twin Falls' Jon Pulsifer to 6 points on Lewiston's way to the finals.
